About Me

I am a Postdoctoral Associate with the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Duke University. I am working with Prof. Robert Calderbank.

I obtained my Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at UCLA. I was working at Laboratory for Robust Information Systems (LORIS), advised by Prof. Lara Dolecek. I was also affiliated with the Center for Quantum Science and Engineering (CQSE) at UCLA. I received my M.S. degree also from UCLA, in 2018. Prior to that, I obtained my B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2016.

More details about me can be found in my CV.

Research Interests

My research experiences are heavily focusing on designing error correction codes (ECC) for modern data/computing-intensive systems and quantum systems. The major objective of my work is maximizing the potential of coding techniques in addressing practical issues, such as reliability and latency, in applications associated with storage, computing, and communications.

My current research interests are as follows:

  • Optimization, windowed decoding, and logical gate implementation of quantum spatially-coupled (QSC) codes

  • Fault-tolerant decoding of QSC codes considering the time-space correlation of circuit-level errors

  • Generalized belief propagation (GBP) for Quantum LDPC and error floor analysis

  • Theoretical explanation to the threshold gain of non-uniform spatially-coupled LDPC codes

  • Probabilistic methods for finite-length optimization of spatially-coupled LDPC codes with high memories

  • Codes with hierarchical localities for distributed storage systems that are scalable, flexible, and adapt to dynamic changes of the underlying topologies
